Completes Patent Registration for ‘Wild-simulated Ginseng Fermentation Method Using Fermentation Mat

2026-01-21

KBB Co., Ltd. has secured a patent for a “Wild-simulated Ginseng fermentation method” that enhances the absorption rate of active compounds in the human body, accelerating the functionality enhancement and popularization strategy of its premium Wild-simulated Ginseng brand, ‘Jigiwon.’

KBB, which operates the premium Wild-simulated Ginseng brand ‘Jigiwon,’ announced on the 21st that it has completed the patent registration for a “Fermentation Method of Wild-simulated Ginseng Using Fermentation Materials.”

This newly registered patent is a fermentation technology designed to more stably activate the active compounds of Wild-simulated Ginseng and improve their absorption in the human body. It is characterized by the systematization of a fermentation process tailored to the specific properties of raw Wild-simulated Ginseng. Through this technology, efficient utilization of the unique marker compounds of Wild-simulated Ginseng is expected, while simultaneously enhancing both consumption convenience and functionality.

KBB has previously introduced its “Cheonhaebo Wild-simulated Ginseng Whole-Plant Extract,” utilizing the entire plant—including leaves, stems, and roots—and has accumulated differentiated technological expertise centered on Wild-simulated Ginseng extraction. With this fermentation patent registration, the company plans to expand its product lineup by applying fermentation technology to Wild-simulated Ginseng extraction.

In particular, KBB intends to focus on developing products that improve the utilization efficiency of active compounds through fermentation processes, enabling a broader range of consumers to consume Wild-simulated Ginseng more easily and conveniently. This initiative is part of the company’s strategy to expand Wild-simulated Ginseng beyond a simple forest product or traditional botanical health food into a premium functional ingredient supported by scientific evidence and technological innovation.

A KBB representative stated, “Wild-simulated Ginseng is clearly an excellent medicinal resource, but it is also true that some consumers perceive it as difficult to access or burdensome. Through continuous advancements in technology and processing, we will strive to ensure more consumers can experience the value of Wild-simulated Ginseng. We will also continue to expand and develop products under ‘Jigiwon,’ our Wild-simulated Ginseng healthcare brand dedicated to its popularization.”

Meanwhile, KBB plans to continue its research on Wild-simulated Ginseng whole-plant utilization technologies, as well as extraction and fermentation processes, while focusing on establishing Wild-simulated Ginseng as a more familiar and accessible health food.
